Save Data and Backups
Use Stop when you want to pause a server and return to its world later. A normal stop gives the game time to shut down and preserve its current save data before hosting is removed.
Stop and start again
- Press Stop and wait for the status to change from Stopping to Stopped.
- Leave the server Stopped for as long as you do not need it running; hourly billing is paused.
- Press Start when you want to continue.
Starting restores the preserved server data used by the game. A Restart also keeps the server's save data while relaunching the game.
If the server stops because the owner's credits run out, it follows the same graceful stop path. Top up and start it again to continue.
Configuration changes
Changing Server tier, Server size, region, Game Settings, or Mods is intended to keep the server's save data. Some changes restart a Running server, so wait for the restart to complete before reconnecting.
Mods and game settings can still change how a world loads or behaves. Review game and mod instructions before removing content or changing world-related options.
Keep an independent backup when available
The Console does not currently provide a self-service save download or restore control. For an important world, use the game's own export or backup feature when it provides one and keep that copy outside the server.
If an unexpected stop or Error occurs, avoid permanent deletion while investigating. Check the status message and Activity Log first.
Permanent deletion removes saves
Deleting a server permanently removes its save data and cannot be undone through the Console. Stopping is the correct choice when you only want to pause billing or may return later.
