Settings or Mods Didn't Apply

Use these checks when Game Settings, Mods, or a Server Settings change does not appear in the running game.

Symptom: a saved game setting did not change

  1. Reopen Game Settings and confirm the value shown is the value you intended.
  2. Check that the page reported Saved rather than Failed to save.
  3. Stop editing while the server is Starting, Stopping, or completing another operation.
  4. If the setting applies at game start, restart the server and wait until it returns to Running.
  5. Check the game's guide for ranges, dependencies, or world-specific behavior.

If a save failed, the last successfully saved configuration remains the one to use. Reload the page, make the change again, and confirm Saved before restarting.

Symptom: selected mods did not appear

The Mods section appears only for games with supported mod management. Check that each intended mod remains in the selected list after reloading the page.

Then verify:

  • The mod search result or pasted URL resolved to the intended mod.
  • Any game-specific required fields are complete.
  • The page did not show Failed to save or Factorio credentials required.
  • A running server completed Save & Restart after the selection changed.
  • The client and server use compatible mod versions and required dependencies.

Add or remove a few mods at a time. If the server stops reaching Running, remove the most recent changes and test again before adding more.

Symptom: region, Server tier, or Server size did not change

Use Server Settings, not Game Settings. While the server is running, confirm Apply & Restart and allow players to disconnect while the change completes. While stopped, the new configuration applies on the next start.

An upscale can charge the displayed difference immediately. If Credit Balance is too low, the change cannot complete. A downscale has no extra change charge.

Check permissions on a shared server

A role may allow viewing a section without allowing changes. The owner can review permissions in Roles & Sharing. Shared viewers can see mods but cannot edit them.

Next action

Review the Activity Log to confirm which settings or mods change was recorded and when. If the saved values still do not apply after one completed restart, contact Support with the server name, game, setting or mod names, expected value, current value, and relevant Activity Log time.
