Roles, Permissions, and Members
Use Roles & Sharing to control what other people can see and do on a server. Access is assigned through roles rather than by sharing your account.
Built-in roles
Each server has these built-in roles:

| Player | View server information and the Activity Log. |
Built-in roles remain available as stable starting points. Create a custom role when a person needs a narrower or different combination.
Permissions
A role can grant permissions for:

| View cost | See cost information available for the server. |
| Manage server settings | Change region, Server tier, and Server size. |
| Manage game settings | Change Game Settings. |

| Manage players | Use Player Management actions for supported games. |
| View activity | Read the Activity Log. |
| Manage sharing | Manage roles, members, and share links. |
| Delete server | Permanently delete the server and its save data. |
Controls remain hidden or read-only when the viewer lacks the required permission. Every action checks permission separately, so having access to Overview does not imply access to settings or lifecycle controls.
Custom roles
Select New role, enter a role name and optional description, then choose only the permissions needed. A person can belong to more than one role on the same server; their effective access is the combination of all those role permissions.
Review powerful permissions carefully. In particular, Start/Stop and configuration changes can spend the owner's credits, Manage sharing can grant access to other people, and Delete server is permanent.
Members
A signed-in person who opens a login-required role link becomes a member of that role. The server then appears in their Console with a Shared marker. Membership remains until it is removed, the member leaves the server, or the role is deleted.
- Remove a member to revoke that person's membership in the selected role.
- Deleting a custom role removes access supplied by that role from all its members.
- Revoking a role's link prevents new joins through that link but existing members keep their role membership.
- A member can remove a shared server from their own Console; leaving removes all of that person's role memberships on the server.
If a member has another role after one membership is removed, permissions from the remaining role still apply.
Who pays
The owner pays all hourly and configuration charges. Members and anonymous visitors never move those charges to their own wallets. If the owner's balance cannot cover a start or a more expensive configuration, that action does not proceed.
