Team Fortress 2

Team Fortress 2 servers support configurable maps, match rules, bots, and Player Management for casual or community play.

Choose a Server size

Start with Small for a normal match or small community. Consider Medium or Large when you raise the player count or run busier matches. Use the live CPU and Memory readings in the Console to evaluate your own workload rather than treating a size as a fixed player count.

Essential Game Settings

Set the Message of the Day, Server Region, Max Players, Start Map, and map cycle. You can also control all talk, friendly fire, tournament mode, random critical hits, and instant respawn. A Steam GSLT Token is needed when you want the server to be publicly listed by Steam.

The server name and optional password are set during creation. Stop the server before changing Game Settings, select Save Settings, and start it again to apply the saved configuration.

Connect

Wait for Running, then copy the Domain Name or IP Address from the Console. Find the server in Team Fortress 2's community server browser, or open the in-game console and enter connect ADDRESS:27015. Enter the server password if prompted.

Player Management and Mods

Player Management is available while the server is running. It can show connected players and offers the moderation, administrator, and broadcast actions supported by Team Fortress 2.

Team Fortress 2 does not currently have a Mods blade.
