Minecraft: Java Edition
Minecraft: Java Edition servers support vanilla worlds, configurable game rules, Player Management, and compatible Modrinth mods.
Choose a Server size
Start with Small for a new vanilla world and a small group. Consider Medium or Large for more players, higher view or simulation distance, heavy redstone, large explored worlds, or mods. Check live CPU and Memory use in the Console after changing those workloads.
Essential Game Settings
Choose Game Mode, Difficulty, Max Players, PvP, online mode, and the MOTD. World options include type, seed, structure generation, build height, world size, and mob spawning. View distance, simulation distance, command blocks, idle timeout, flight, the Nether, spawn protection, and resource-pack settings are also available.
World seed and generation settings affect newly generated terrain and do not rewrite chunks that already exist. Stop the server before changing Game Settings, select Save Settings, and start it again to apply the saved configuration.
Connect
Wait for Running, then copy the Domain Name or IP Address from the Console. In
Minecraft: Java Edition, choose Multiplayer > Add Server or Direct Connection and enter
the copied address. Add :25565 only if the client asks for a port or does not connect with the
address alone.
Mods
Choose a Mod Loader and Minecraft Version in Game Settings, then use the Mods blade to search for compatible Modrinth projects. Mod changes are prepared on start; when saving while the server is running, confirm Save & Restart.
The server and every player must use compatible Minecraft, loader, and mod versions. Verify a mod's loader and version support before adding it, and change established mod sets carefully.
Player Management
Player Management is available while the server is running. It can show connected players and offers the moderation, administrator, and broadcast actions supported by Minecraft.
