Factorio

Factorio servers support configurable multiplayer rules, map presets, browser listing, Player Management, and mods from the Factorio Mod Portal.

Choose a Server size

Start with Small for a new vanilla factory or a small group. Consider Medium or Large for a large established factory, many players, or a substantial mod set. Factory simulation and mods can increase CPU and Memory use over time, so check the live readings in the Console.

Essential Game Settings

Set the Server Description, Tags, Max Players, browser publishing, command policy, pause behavior, AFK auto-kick, autosave interval and slots, and Map Preset. The server name and optional password are set during creation.

Map-generation choices apply when a world is created; changing a preset does not rebuild an existing factory. Stop the server before changing Game Settings, select Save Settings, and start it again to apply the saved configuration.

Space Age DLC

Factorio runs vanilla by default, so anyone can join. Turn on Enable Space Age DLC in Game Settings only if you want the paid Space Age expansion — and note that every player must also own Space Age in their own Factorio client, or they'll be blocked with a mod mismatch when they try to connect. Because the expansion changes world generation, switch it on or off before the first boot; changing it on an existing world requires wiping the save so the map can regenerate.

Connect

Wait for Running, then copy the Domain Name or IP Address and Password from the Console. In Factorio, choose Multiplayer > Connect to address and enter ADDRESS:34197. A published server can also appear in the public multiplayer browser.

Mods

Use the Mods blade to search the Factorio Mod Portal and select mods. Enter your own Factorio username and Mod Portal token when prompted so the selected files can be downloaded. Mod changes are prepared on start; when saving while the server is running, confirm Save & Restart.

All players need compatible game and mod versions. Add mods gradually and keep a world backup before changing a long-running mod set.

Player Management

Player Management is available while the server is running. It can show connected players and offers the moderation, administrator, and broadcast actions supported by Factorio.
