Settings or Mods Didn't Apply
Use this guide when a setting did not save, a selected mod is missing, or a saved choice does not appear in the game. First distinguish a saved choice from one that has been applied at startup.
Check the section, status, and permissions
- Game Settings controls the game's exposed options.
- Mods manages supported mods and required game-specific fields.
- Server Settings changes region, Server tier, and Server size.
Refresh the server page once, note its status, and let any Starting or Stopping operation finish. A read-only section may reflect your role's permissions. Ask the owner to check Roles & Sharing rather than trying another person's account.
Signed-in members with the appropriate permissions can manage supported settings or mods. Do not assume every shared member can edit them. See Roles, Permissions, and Members.
If a game setting did not save or take effect
- Read the game configuration guide for the setting's limits, dependencies, and whether it affects only a newly generated world.
- Warn connected players before stopping the server. Select Stop and wait for Stopped before editing Game Settings; settings cannot be saved while the game is running.
- Make one relevant change, select Save Settings, and wait for Saved.
- Reopen the section to verify the value. If saving failed or the request was interrupted, read the value back before retrying; do not assume it was saved or lost.
- Select Start once. After Running and game loading complete, check the result in-game.
Starting resumes banked time or requires credit under the normal billing rules. A settings save alone does not start a stopped server.
If the value remains saved but the game ignores it, do not keep changing world names or generating new worlds. Some settings do not change existing saves; report the specific option to support.
If selected mods did not appear
Check that Mods is supported for the game, then inspect the selected list after reopening it. Confirm that the search result or pasted URL identifies the intended mod and that required fields are complete. For Factorio, required credentials must be entered in the app, never in a support ticket.
Warn players before accepting Save & Restart when offered for a running server. Wait for the operation to finish; a stopped server applies the selection on its next start. Then compare client and server requirements, including compatible mod versions and dependencies.
If startup fails after a mod change, note the recent additions and error. Removing a mod can affect an existing world, so only undo a change when the game's guidance makes that safe. Otherwise ask support before continuing. Do not delete the world as a mod troubleshooting step.
If region, tier, or size did not change
Use Server Settings and check the offered selection and price. A running server needs confirmation of Apply & Restart, which disconnects players. A stopped server uses the saved configuration on its next start.
An upscale can charge the displayed difference immediately and may fail if the owner's credit is insufficient. A downscale has no extra change charge. After applying, reopen the section and confirm the selection; check the current connection details after the server is ready.
Do not submit the same change repeatedly while it is in progress. If the result is uncertain, review Activity Log and Cost & Usage before retrying.
When to contact support
Ask for help if saving repeatedly fails, a saved value still has no effect after one completed stop/save/start cycle, or a mod change prevents startup and cannot safely be undone.
Include the server name, game, option or mod name, non-sensitive expected and actual values, exact error, change time and timezone, and relevant Activity Log entries. Do not include passwords or mod-account tokens among the values.
